WHEREAS, THE COMMISSIONER OF LIBRARIES, AUDITORIUM, MUSEUMS,.& STADIA HAS
REPORTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 51 OF THE CITY CHARTER, THE
EXISTENCE OF AN EMERGENCY DURING THE PERIOD FROM APRIL 1 TO 30,
INQLUSIVE, WHICH RENDERED NECESSARY THE EMPLOYMENT OF CERTAIN
EMPLOYEES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARIES AUDITORIUM, MUSEUMS
& STADIA, BUREAU OF PUBLIC LIBRARIES. FOR MORE THAN EIGHT HOURS
PER DAY OR FORTY HOURS PER WEEK IN DOING THE FOLLOWING WORKS'
(1) COVERING 'BOOKMOBILE SCHEDULES, (2) BEING PRESENT DURING
EVENING MEETINGS OF THE PUBLIC, (3) EMPTYING BOOK RETURN BOX
ON GOOD FRIDAY, AND (4) CHECKING ALL BUILDINGS OF THE LIBRARY
SYSTEM ON GOOD FRIDAY,
AND WHEREAS, THIS EMERGENCY AROSE BY REASON OF THE 'FOLLOWING FACTS AND
CIRCUMSTANCES:
COVERING BOOKMOBILE SCHEDULES BEING PRESENT DURING EVENING
MEETINGS OF THE PUBLIC, EMPTYING BOOK RETURN BOX AND CHECKING
LIBRARY' BUILDINGS ON HOLIDAY,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED' THAT THE PROPER CITY OFFICERS ARE HEREBY AUTHOR-
IZED TO PAY THE EMPLOYEES WHO PERFORMED SUCH WORK IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE PROVISION OF THE COUNCIL'S SALARY ORDINANCE N0. 6446. 00 spy
