Resolved, That the proper city
cers are hereby authorized to pay pay

ment as described in the resolution.

WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from February 1, 1960 to February 15, 1960 in-
clusive which rendered necessary the employment of certain
employees of the Department of Public Utilities for more than
eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the follow-
ing works
Supervising the activities of the City Market,
Making emergency repairs to street'lighting circuits, and
Checking bus schedules and loadings,
and
WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circum-
stances:
Holiday work made necessary because of increased
activity at the City Market,
Overtime night work required to restore street
lighting service immediately for public safety,
Submission by the Street Railway Company of proposed
schedule changes,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the
employees who performed such work in accordance with the pro-
visions of the Council's Salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
