Grand Avenue Special Sign District Plan Amendment Study

7 VVHEREAS, the Saint Paul Zoning Code provides for the adoption of Special District Sign Plans in
8 Section 64.601; under this provision a Special Sign District Plan was adopted for Grand Avenue in 1983
and amended in 1996;

WHEREAS, on August 31, 2006, the Suuimit Hiil Association/Planning District 16 submitted a letter to
PED requesting the City to consider further amendments to the Grand Avenue Special Sign District Plan,
with their proposed amendments attached;
WHEREAS, the proposed amendments were the product of a Special 5ign Committee made up of
representatives from the Summit Hill Association and the Grand Avenue Business Association; and
WHEREAS, PED put the Summit Hill Association's request on a back burner due to the other larger
planning projects on its work program, and has never taken the proposed amendments to the Pianning
Commission for review and a recommendation to the Council;
NOW, THEI2EFORE, BE IT RE30LVED, that the Council xequests PED and tbe Planning Commission
to review the Grand Avenue Special Sign District Plan amendments and submit a recommendation to the
Council within 90 days.
