1 WF�REAS, the City of Saint PauPs Education Initiatives places a high priority on
2 preparing all children for school and life; and

4 WHEREAS, the Travelers Foundation attempts through charitable giving to assist
5 education efforts; and
6
7 WFIEREAS, the Travelers Foundation has agreed to donate $50,000 to the City of St. Paul
8 to be used for operating support for the City of Saint PauPs AmeriCorps'� VISTA national
9 service program, which seeks to expand and enhance early childhood education and literacy
10 programs, enhance during and out-of-school time learning opportunities, and prepare
11 , students for post-secondary education and the workforce; now, therefore, be it
12
13 RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of St. Paul accepts the contribution of Travelers
14 Foundation and dedicates it to the use intended; and be it
15
16 FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City thanks the Travelers Foundation for its generous gift.
