WHEREAS, the International Code Counci( is responsible for drafring and approvin� the Iaternational
Buildin� Code which is the Buildin� Code that is used in the State of Min�esota and enforced by inspectors for the
City of Saint Paul; and
WHEREAS, the Mechanical Code is changed only every three years; and
WHEREAS, the Internationaf Code Council wilf hold CQde Hearings in order to defermine what changes
will be made to fhe current Mechanical Code; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul's Department of Safety and Inspections (DSI) is responsible for
enforcing the Mechanical Code within its jurisdiction; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul will be charged with enforciiig the new Mechanicaf Code; and
WHEREAS, if a City Inspector can attend these hearings, that inspector will be able to have input into the
code changes to ensure that t6e new Mechanical Code takes into consideration Minnesota's unique climate and Saint
PauPs older housing srock; and
WH6REAS, the City Inspector will also receive training on the code changes whiclt will allow aIl City
inspectors to receive that knowledge as well; and
WHEREAS, the SheeY Metal Workers' Union, Local 10, l�as offered to pay the cost for one Mechanical
Inspectar from the Department of Safety and Inspections to attend the Internationai Code Commission Code
Hearings which will be held in Palm Springs, California on February 21, 22, 23, and 24, 2008; and
WHEREAS, the Sheet Metal Workers' Uoion, Local 10, has offered to pay for airfare, lodging and a per
diem for that inspector at an estimated cost of $1,3�6.00; now therefore be it
RESOLV ED, that the City oF Saint Paul a{ong with the Department af Safety and Inspections thank the
Sheet Metal Workers' Union, Local l�, and gratefully accept the �ift.
