WHEREAS, the Commissioner o� Public Utilities has reported,
in accordance with Section 53 of the City Cha.rter, the existence of
an emergency during the period from October lst to Oct�ber 15th � _
1961 inclusive, which rendered necessary the employment��f certain
employees of the Water Depaxtment for more than ei�ht hours per day
or forty hours per week in doing the following work:
(1 Repa,iring equipment, vaxious stations.
(2 �Torkin� extra shifts,various atations:
3 Repairing and finiehing installation of water mains}j-
�+ Changi.ng wa.ter meters at co�ercial property:
5 Driving country crew to and �rom work: .
6 Treatin.g lakes with copper sulphate.
AND wr�FQS� this emergency axose by reason of the �ollowing
facts and circumsta.nces;
(1) Necessary to do work during low consimiption hours.
2 Absence of employees on regular shifts.
3 In order to give water supply to cons�ers as soon as possible.
�+ Aecessary to change meters after business hours:

6 Neceasary to finish treatment at each location.
TAEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED� that the proper city ofPicers are v
hereby authorized to pay the•employees �iho -perPormed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance,
Ordinance PTo. 6�6.
