. WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public i3tilities ha.s reported, . _ .
i.n accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of
an emergency during the period from October lst to October 15th 1961 `
inclusive, which rendered necessaxy the employment of certain employees
o� the Water ,Department for more than eight hours per day or forty
hours per week in doing the follo�rin� work: �
(1) Handling meter read.ing caxds received in the mail on Saturdays.
(2) Inspecting work done by Contractors.
• AND� WHEREAS� this emergency axose by reason of the �ollowing
� facts and circumstances:
(1) In order to have-readings reac�y for billers on Mondays:
(2� l�ecessary to do inspecting after the day's work by Contractors. ,
THEREFORE� BT IT RESOLVFD, that the proper city officers axe
hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such wurk in
accord.ance with the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance�
