WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance with ,
S'ection 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during
the period from September 1 to September 15, 1961 which rendered ' �
n.ecessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of
Public Works for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per wee k
in doing the following work::

fAnd WI�REAS, This emer�ency arose�by reason of the following facts and

Necessity of answering all einergency repair calls, keeping
city streets fr�e from debris, keeping fires at Asphalt Plan.t
continuoualy, taking complaints at City Yards, completin.g plans, &
specificati.ons for grading & paving �obs, need for grade profiles and
house numbers, completing sidewalk a'ssessments, keepin� city equipment
in good running conditioil, and inspecting work done by contractors
on street & side�,alk work.
THEREFORE B.E IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby
. authorizsd to pay the employees who per�ormed such work in -
accordance with the 'provisions of the Council� s salary ordinance,
Ordinance No. 61�.t�.6. .
