W�iEREAS, The Commissioner of Public �Torks has repor�ed, in accordance with
Section 53 of the City Charter,�;the existence of an emergency during
the period from August 16 to August 31, 1961 which rendered necessary
the employment of certain employees of the Department of Public Works
for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the
following work:
Emergency street� building, aewer & bridge repair
Dispatching msn for emergency repair wo'rk
Dispatching motor vehicles for all emergency w ork
Qperating equ3.pment on emer�ency repair work
Emergency calls for �ewer maintenance
Tending fire at Asphalt Plant on/Sundays & holidays
Taking care of complaints at city yards
Drawing plans & specifications for grading & pavin� �obs
Mimeographing grade profiles 8c revising house numbers
Servicing municipal equipment -
Ma.kin� up sidewalk assessments
Inspecting city improvement jobs "
And WI-�REAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:�
Necessity of answering all emergency repair. calls, keeping
city streets free from d�bris, keeping firos at Asphalt Plan.t
continuously, taking complaints at Qity Yards, completing plans &
specifications for grading 8c paving jobs, need f'or grade profiles and
house numbers, completing sidewalk assessments, keepin� city equipment
in good running condition, and inspectinj work done by contractors
on street & sidewalk work. �
THEREFORE IIE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Councilts salary ordinance,
Qrdinance No. 6L�1.�6.
