Peterson Commissioner of Pablic Safety Dear Sir: In regard to the application of William J. Blanchard for pe ssion to remodel the existing filling station at 1330 W. Larpenteur Avenue. Upon investigation, we find that there will be no change in the existing tanks, they just want to relocate their pump islands and I change the approaches. This will not in any way increase the existing fire hazard. We, therefore, recommend permission be granted. HJS: ab enc. L Very truly yours, D Howard J. O'Connell City Clerk Building Dear Madam: This is in the matter of the application of the Skelly Oil Company for a permit to remodel an existing filling station on property located at the southeast corner of Hamline and Larpenteur Avenues. The property is de- scribed as subject to widened Larpenteur Avenue, Lots 29 and 30, Blo k 3, Chelsea Heights Addition. The zoning is commercial. The filling station on this site was remodeled in 1957. The applicant Proposes to relocate one of the existing pump islands and add one dr ve- way on Hamline Avenue. The site has a frontage on Hamline Avenue of 69.64 feet and 130 feet along Larpenteur Avenue resulting in an area of approximately 9,053 square feet. South and adjoining is a dry- clean jng establishment which fronts on Hamline Avenue; east and across a public alley is vacant land; other filling stations are located west and across Hamline Avenue and north across Larpenteur Avenue. - Field investigation discloses no objection to this alteration. The Traffic Engineer has approved the plans which meet the standards for this type of facility with the exception of the thirty foot distance between the two driveways on Hamline Avenue which has been reduced t 22 feet. Both the staff and the Traffic Engineer are of the opinion that the relaxation of this required distance to 22 feet is a reason ble one in this particular case as it will provide for ease of ingress aid egress to and from the station. In consideration of the above factors, the Board of Zoning recommend the granting of the application to remodel the filling station operat on the above described property in accordance with the applicant's p dated November 20, 1961.
