 Dear Madam:
. - `
. { This is in the matter of the application of the St. Paul Fire and Marine
f Insurance Company for a permit to enlarge an existing parking lot for
customers, employees and public use on property located at the northwest
corner of "Auditorium and West Fifth Streets. The property is described
as Lots ?, 8, 9 and 10, Block ?, Rice and Irvine's Addition. The property
{ is zoned commercial.
r The portion of.tbe tract
proposed to be integrated with the existing lot
is the site of the former Y. i9. C. A. building. The entire lot will accomo-
t date 124 car spaces, or an additional 36 car spaces. The surrounding area
; is developed commercially.
The Traffic Engineer has approved the plan which meets the standards for
this type of facility. Field_investigation discloses no obection to
the proposed enlargement as it would provide additional parking in the
 area.
In consideration of the above factors, the Board of Zoning recommends the
granting of the permit to enlarge an existing oYf-street parking lot on
i the above described property in accordance with plans approved October 5,
 1961.
  Sincerely,

Re: St. Paul Fire and Marine
' Parking Lot Application
r '
 Dear Commissioner Rosen:
f St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Com an
E p y proposes to
E install a parking lot on the site of' the former YWCA
Building. Application has been made a few weeks past
, and the plans and specifications have been approved by
s the planning and zoning boards at a meeting held Thurs-
day, October 5.
The company expects to put this lot to use starting the •
i 20th of October and for the few days, following that date
i at which period vis3tors are invited to 3nspect the new
building and space made availableby this parking lot will
r be important. Accord.ingly, it is of vital importance for
F St. Paul Fire and Marine to obtain an informal permit
` from the City Council as soon as you could bring such a
 matter on for conideration.
It is not anticipated that obections would be raised
• by neighboring property owners in as much as they con-
! sist of, besides St. Paul Fire and Marine, the City of
E Saint Paul and the Wilder Building.
i
Anything you can do to expedite this application would be
 appreciated. .
i '
; Very truly yours,
u OPPENHEIMER, HODGSON, BROWN, BAER AND WOLFF
