PAUL OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK CI"ESOLUTION— GENERAL FORM DATE COUNCIL N NO 202654 WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from Oune 1 to 15, 1961, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doling the following work: Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and protection of public parks and play- grounds and of their facilities. And 1 , This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: Council File No. 202654 —By Frank L. Loss — Resolved, That the proper city offi- cers are hereby authorized to pay certain employes in the Department of Parks & Recreation & Public Build- ings for extra employment as described in the resolution. Adopted by the Council June 20, 1961. Approved June 20, 1961. (June 24, 1961) Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of depart- mental activities, such as: Civic events and municipal sports and playground pro- grams required increased time and effort of an unforeseen but temporary nature; regular employees ill; breakdown of equip• ment required immediate repair; storm damage to boulevard trees caused dangerous situationsi and heavy patronage at parks refectories at week -ends.
