• RESOLVED, That t e Council of the City of Saint Paul,
in its own behalf and that of the citizenry of sa3d City, hereby
takes and records official cognizanee of the death of His
Excellency William O.� Brady, then Archbishop of the Archdiocese �
� of Saint Paul, on the lst day of October, A.D. 1961, at Rome,
Italy, when he was in the pursuit of his arduous duties and
performing the important functions of Consultor of the Bishops
and Church Government Preparatory Committee in eollaboration
with His Holiness Pope John XXIII in the formulation of the .
plans and procedurea for the pending Ecumenical Council of
the Roman CatY�olic Church; that his career was most ex�raordinary,
wo�thy and successful and embraced the important field� of religion,
education, social service, and civic affairs of local, national
and international scope, wherein he assiduously and effectively
devoted his learning and labors in �he furtherance of the common
weal; that his swnmons from this life by Almighty God resulted in
the culmination of his most worthy and effective career in the
aforesaid important fields of action wherein he unfalteringly
and with extraordinary successful diatinction strove to promote !
the common good and the cause of equity and �ustice under oi�� j�
Constitutional Government; that this Council hereby confers upon;
him, posthumously, in recognit3.on of his aforesaid career this I
"Citation of Extraordinary Merit in Religious, Civic and ��
Educational' Fields�of Endeavor"; and that this Counail, in �ts - ,
own behalf and that of the people of the City of Saint Paul, '
. hereby extends to the members of the family of said late
Archbishop, William 0. Brady, a sincere expression of sympathy and �
se�se of incalculable loss by reason of his death and directs the I
City Clerk to cause an engrossed copy of this resolution to be
prepared therefor and delivered to the sister of said late Archbishop, �p
Sister�`� William, a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph Carondelet,
� St. Paul ;Province.
