Transmitted herewith are photo-copies of the September 18,
. 1961 , letter to the City Council from John T. Hay, Executive Vice
.President of the St. Paul area Chamber.of Commerce and of the Septem-
i'� ber 19, 1961 , letter of transmittal from the City Clerk to Commissioner
.' Rosen both of these letters referring to the request of the Chamber of
� Commerce that the City Council submit to the Minnesota Highway Depart-
ment proposed names for the East-West and the North-South freeways in
' Saint Paul . The East-West freeway would be named the Capitol City
� Freeway and the North-South freeway named the North Star Freeway. The
/ Department of Public Works sees no objection to the naming of these
two highways as outlined above and we accordingly request that your
office draft an appropriate council resolution'whereby the City Council
would request the Minnesota Highway Department to undertake the neces-
sary official action to so name the proposed freeways. We further
recommend that a certified copy of the �resolution be transmitted to
the Commissioner of Highways by the City Clerk.
