�S, the Coffinissioner of Public Utilities has reported,
in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of
an emergency during the period from September 16th to Septe3nber 30th
1961 inclusive, which rendered necessary the employment o� certain
employees of the Water Department for more than eight hours per day �
, or Porty hours per week in doing the �ollowing �rork:
(1) Handling meter reading cards received in the mail on Saturdays.
(2) Inspecting work done by Contractors.
AND WHEREAS, this emergency axose by reason of the Pollowing
� facts and �ircumstances:
(1) In order to have readings ready for billers on Mond,ays.
(2� Necessary to inspect a�ter the day's work by Contractors.
T�FORE� BE IT RESOLVED, that the pxoper city officers axe
hereby authorized to pay the employees who perPormed such �rork in
� accordance with the provisions o� the Council's Salary Ordinance,
Ordinance No. 64�+6.
