WHEREAS, �'he Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance with
Section 53 of the City CY�arter, the exiatence of an emergency during
the period from September 16 to September 30, 1g61 which rendered
necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of
Public Works for more than eight hours per day or forty hours pe�
week in doing the following work: .
Emergency street, building, sewer & bridge repair
Dispatching men for emergency repair work
Dispatching motor vehicles for all emergency work
Operating equipment on emergeney repair work .
Emergency calls for sewer maintena.nce
Tending fire at Asphalt Plant on Sundays & holidays .
Taking care of complain�Gs at city yards ..
Drawing plans & apecifications for grading & paving �obs
Mimeographin� grade profiles & revising house numbers
Servicing municipal equipment
Ma.kin$ up sidewalk assessments
Inspecting city improvement �obs .
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
DTecessity of answering all emergeney repair calls, keeping eity .
streets free from debris, keeping fires at Asphalt Plant
continuously, ta.king complaints at City Yards, completing plans &
specifications for �rading & paving �obs,, need for grade profiles
and house numbers, eompleting sidewald assessments, keeping city
equipment in good running condition, and inspecting work done 'by
contractors on street & sidewalk work.
THERF,FORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to pay the emplo�rees who performed auch work in -
accordance with the provisions of the Cotancil's salary ordinance,
Ordinance No. 6�+�+6.
