The undersigned residents of I�ebratska gvenue, between Victoria .
Street and Grotto Street, hereby enter formal Petition of�
Remonstrance as covered in Section 243 of the City Charter !
against Preliminary Order 203117, as approved July I9, 1961. �
i'�e state our chief reasons as follows=
;
1. Referring to a good and current map of the area, it {
is obvious that Nebraska is solely a residential ,
street, not linking main arteries of traffic, and !
therefore vehicular traffic is at a minimum. �
2. Nebraska rises from both ends toward a high point E
between Avon and Fisk. The chance that the high �
point might block the vision of an oncoming driver �
against children playing in the street is covered i
by the l�ocation. of �. "31ow, Children" vrarning sign ;
placed by the city on the boulevard in front of `
' 807 3�est Nebraska some years ago. f

3. Being so�ne distance from any school, and because �
. of several streets not being cut through, carry �
a minimum amount of walking traffic. There are no ,
obstructions to pedestrian. traffic on the boulevards '
. in these blocks. �

4. Building of sidev�ralks will nc�t keep children' off the�e `
streets tvhen playing. Only proper parental training ,
v4d11 accomplish this. : �, r

5. Residents of this area take pride and pl'easure in 7
maintaining neat, �.ttractive lawns, unbroken by side- f
dvalks, and in view of the�fact side�:*alks are being used �
less each day in our motoTized age, see no need for ;
. -�he expense. • � � ,
6. FTere it the case that sidewalks were to be installed �
on all streets in the entire area under the label of � '
"progres s" we might take a different atti�6ude, but in
. this inst�.r�e as evidencecl by the petiti on, the judge- {
ment of the great majority of residents affected, most ( r
of tivhome have children, is that sidew�.�ks are neither � �p ;
needed nor wanted at this time.
The undersigned petiticmers therefore respectfully request the �
City Council to vo'�e negative on a.ny further action described j
under Preliminary Order 203117s , �
