3 WHEREAS, private security officers work day and night to keep us safe. They are the largest
4 group of potential first responders in Saint Paul;
6 WHEREAS, with public safety in mind, private security officers work hard to do theirjobs well and
7 raise their families;
9 WHEREAS, over time the wages and benefits for private security officers have been reduced
10 and the rising cost of health insurance is making it difficult to them to do their jobs weil and
I1 support their families;

13 WHEREAS, health insurance is so expensive that less than 2% of security officers take family
14 health insurance from their employer, and 70% do not have health insurance for their families

from any source;
WHEREAS, the Twin Cities Security Officers are standing up for affordable heaith care for ali
Minnesotans; now
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota calls upon
the owners and managers of Twin Cities commercial real estate to be leaders in supporting
afFordable health insurance and livable wages for security officers and their families.
