Whereas, Richard Martin, a police
officer of the City of Saint Paul, was
injured in a third party accident while
in the course of his employment with
the Department of Public Safety on
the 27th day'of July, 1959, and as.a re-
sult the City has expended $857.88 to
compensate said Richard Martin for
loss of time, and added to this has ex-
pended the sum of $2,588.30 for medical

WHEREAS, Richard Martin, a police officer of the City
of Saint Paul, was injured in a third party accident while in
the course of his employment with the Department of Public
Safety on the 27th day pf July, 1959, and as a result the City
has expended $857.88 to compensate said Richard Martin for
loss of time, and added to this has expended the sum of
$2,588.30 for medical expense, a total of $3446.18; and
WHEREAS, said employe has made a settlement with
John Skeldum and Gerald Skeld=, respectively the driver and
owner of the vehicle involved in said third party accident,
in the total sum of $9,600.00, being represented in the
negotiations by his attorney, Thomas E, Moore; and
WHEREAS, in view of the seriousness of the employees
injuries and the permanent nature of such injuries, the
office of the Corporation Counsel recommends the acceptance
of the compromise settlement offered by the employe, that is,
the sum of $2,297.00 less $766.00 as and for attorneys fees
and less $30.00 for other expense, or a net settlement of
$1,501.00, now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to accept the sum of $1,501.00 in full, final and
complete settlement of its subrogation claim for salary and
medical expense incurred by it in connection with the injury
of said employe,Richard Martin, in said third party accident;.
that said sum be credited to Fund 31 -G1 -A.
