Dear Madam:
SAINT PAUL T, MINNESOTA
March 29, 1961
This is in the matter of the application of SuperAmerica for a permit
to install and operate a new filling station on property located at
the northeast corner of Maryland Avenue and Hazelwood Street. The pro-
perty is described as the west 180 feet of the south 173 feet of the
southeast one - quarter of Section 22, Township 29, Range 22, subject to
Maryland*Avenue and Hazelwood Street. On March 9, 1961, the City
Council reclassified this property from 1'A" residence to commercial.
The site is presently vacant and the applicant proposes to develop
it with a new filling station. The property has a frontage of 150
feet along Maryland Avenue and 140 feet along Hazelwood Street, re-
sulting in an area of 21,000 square feet. West and across unimproved
Hazelwood Street is the East Side Hebrew Cemetery; diagonally across
the above mentioned streets is the recently constructed State Armory
building; directly south and across E. Maryland Avenue is the Roosevelt
Housing project; east and adjoining is a single - family residence which
fronts on Maryland Avenue; north and adjoining is vacant land.
The Traffic Engineer and Planning Board staff have reviewed and approved
the plans which meet the standards for this type of facility.
In consideration of the above factors, the Board of Zoning recommends
the granting of the application to install and operate a new filling
station on the above described property in accordance with plans
approved January 5, 1961.
Sincerely,
H. C. Wieland
Secretary
Board of Zoning
