BEHRENS —. 6'a"Pluty.,co mmissioner• ' t April 3, 1961 To the Honorable Mayor and Council of the City of Saint Paul Gentlemen and Madam: The matter of opening, widening and ex- tending East Sixth Street from the east line of Birmingham's Addition to Barclay Street, by taking and condemning a strip of land 60 feet wide in Lot 13, Homes for the Homeless, is currently being processed under Preliminary Order 200666, ap- proved February 2, 1961, and Final Order 201252, approved March 21, 1961. The parcel of land involved is forfeited to the State of Minnesota for nonpayment of taxes, and in or- der to acquire it at the lowest possible cost, I recommend that application be made to the Commissioner of Taxation of the State of Minnesota for a conveyance under the terms of MSA Section 282.01, Sub. 1. Sixth Street at this point adjoins the new high school being constructed by the Education Department of the City of St. Paul, and it is necessary and desirable to have a through street in the area to fill the needs for ac- cess to the school grounds.
