City Comptroller is respectfully called to the iollowing Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of Ramsey County, Minnesota, adopted at the meeting held on December 4, 1961 By Commissioner Delaney c' WHEREAS, Laws 1929 Chapter 371 as amended and 14i.nnesota Statutes Section 393.01 Subdivision 4 and Section 393.07 provi:le that the Ramsey County Welfare Board shall have the duty and responsibility of administrating all forms of public assistance and public welfare9 and WHEREAS, the County Welfare Department has in'a report dated November 170 19619 advised the Council or the City of St. Paul and the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners that a projection of the welfare costs for the year 1961 indicate a deficiency in its budget appropriation in the amount of $3249482.009 the county's share at 72.5% being $2359249.459 and WHEREAS,, there are surplus funds available in the County Welfare Department Suspense Fund to cover the amount needed by the County Welfare Department NOW9 THEREFOREv Be It Resolved by the Board of County Commissioners that the sum of $2359249.45 be transferred from the County Welfare Department Suspense fund to the County Welfare, Department Fund., , i• r i l i . r i i Form Aud. 200 EUGENE A. The oard is making every effort to reduce its General Relief costs by institut- ing changes and reductio in standards. There are major increases in the costs of Old Age Assistan e and Aid to Dependent Children, as well as Child Welfare relief and General Relief. Except for the deficit in General Relief, these deficits can be met by collections in excess of the amounts anticipated for 1961. The attached report of the projected 1961 deficit as of Octo- ber 31, 1961, gives in detail the anticipated deficits and the surpluses estimated to be available for meeting the deficits. The Board requests that the City Council and the Board of County Commissioners take steps to make the necessary funds available to meet this deficit for 1961.
