BE IT ENACTED -BY THE LEGISLATURE'OF THE STATE OF I' IINNESOTA: '
-Section 1. :• Notwithstanding any, provision of the home rule charter
of the city of Saint Paul to the contrary,'- the title of the- position of
architect or city architect for the city of Saint Paul, is- here* by abolished,
`
and,-In place_ of'any reference in said charter'to the, position of- architect
: or city architect,' there• shall be substituted in lieu thereof the title of a' ;
position known as 'director of public buildings and inspections. -
,Section 2, ; The`posiiion.of director of public buildings and inspec-
tions referred to in s'e'ction, 1 hereof shall be filled by a "competent
registered professional engineer or by a competent registered architect.
Section 3. Any Person holding- the position of city architect of the
'. city of Saint - Paul at the time this act becomes effective shall thereby a
