WAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported,
in accordance with Section 51 of the City Charter, the existence
of an emergency during the period from April 16th to April 30th
1961 inclusive, which rendered necessary the employment of certain
employees of the Water Department for4more than eight hours per day
or forty hours per week in doing the following work:
1 Repairing equipment at Filtration Plant.
2 Working extra shifts, various stations.
3 Finishing installation of new water mains and relocating
hydrant.
�4j Driving country crew to and from work.
5 Reading gauges Saturdays and Sundays.

AND WMMS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts
and circumstances:
1 Necessary to do work during low consumption hours.
,Illness of regular employees.
In order to put large water mains in service as soon as possible.
4 On account of scattered work locationsi,
51 In order to keep accurate records of lake levels.
TBIEPMOREj BE IT RESOLVED., that the proper city officers are
hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's Salary Ordinance,
Ordinance No. 64469
