A determinarion was made by HR that the creation of a Social W orker Supervisor classification in grade 019 was appropriate. Saint Paul Superrisors Organizarion, Bargaining Unit Q9 was notified of the change and they had no objecrions. Advaniages if Approved: The Public Health oxganizational structure will be properly structured to manage the work being done. An individual will be able to perform the duties and responsibilities of the Social VJorker Supervisor classificarion and will be appropriately compensated. Supervises and directs the work of a unit in the Social Services Division of Saint Paul- Ramsey County Public Health Department. Provides social services within a designated program or specialty area by planning, organizing, assigning, scheduling monitoring, coordinating and evaluating the work of unit members. Provides tralning and guidance to others who provide diagnostic and consultative services within the specialty area. Performs related duties as required. Supervision Received Works under the general and/or administrative supervision and direction of a manager or a department director. Supervision Exercised Exercises technical, general, and/or administrative supervision over assigned staff. Competencies Demonstrates an expert understanding of the principles, terms, procedures, and practices of social work and trains others in the appropriate work methods. Demonstrates an expert understanding of federal, state and locallaws, rules, and policies affecting social work. Requirements A BacheIor's Degree in a SociaUBehavioral Science or equivalent and any combination of 23 college semester credits or 230 continuing education hours in fields relating to social work. Six (6) yeazs of experience in social services and two (2) years of experience as a social worker are required. Must have two (2) years of experience as a team or project leader or snpervisor. Must possess a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license. The driver's license must have no suspensions or revocafions for dziving- related offenses within the two (2) year period prior to the date of appointment. Suspensions for parking-related offenses are excluded.
