WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreation and
Public Buildings has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Qharter, the exist-
ence of an emergency during the period from
March 1 to 15, 1961, which rendered necessary
the employment of certain employees of the De-
partment of parks and Recreation and Public
Buildings for more than eight hours per day
or forty hours per week in doing the following
work:
Supervision, operation, maintenance,
care and protection of public parks
and playgrounds and of their facilities.
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the
following facts and circumstances:
Seasonal requirements for protection of
public property and pursuit of depart-
mental activities, such ass Civic events
and municipal sports and playground pro-
grams required increased time and effortj
of an unforeseen but temporary nature;
heating plant for the Conservatory and
Zoo must tie tended around the clock;
regular employees ill; week -end storms
necAssitated snow removal and sanding
of parkways and boulevards; and break.

repair.

Resolved, Thai the proper city offi-
cers are thereby authorized to pay
certain employes in the Department
of Parks And Recreation and Public
Buildings for extra employment as
described in -the resolution.
