WHEREAS,,The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance
with.Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from March _1 to March 15, 1961 which rendered
necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department
of Public Works for more than eight hours per day or forty hours
per week in doing the following work:
Emergency street, building, sewer & bridge repair

Operating equipment on emergency repair work acers are hereby authorized to pay
certain employes in the Department of
Emergency calls for sewer maintenance 1 Public Works for extra employment as
described in the resolution.

Tending fire at Asphalt Plant on Sundays & holidays fl

Taking care of complaints at city yards
Drawing plans & specifications for grading & paving jobs

Servicing mgnicipal equipment
Making up sidewalk assessments
Inspecting city improvement jobs
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts
and circumstances:
Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls, Keeping
city streets from snow, ice, & debris, keeping fires at Asphalt
Plant continuously, taking complaint at City Yards, completeing
plans & specifications for grading & paving jobs, need for grade
profiles and house numbers, completing sidewalkassessments, keeping city
equipment in good running condition, and inspecting work done
by contractors on street & sidewalk work.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to-pay the.employees who performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary
ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
