RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Saint
Paul, in its own behalf and that of the citizenry of said
City, does hereby take and permanently record official
cognizance of the extraordinarily meritorious career of
Monsignor George E. Ryan, in civic and spiritual affairs
immediately affecting said City and its people, consistently
characterized by his erudition, charitable mien, civic and
spiritual interests and resd1ite desire to conserve, pro-
tect and promote the public welfare, and which was prematurely
culminated by the-summons of Almighty God, and his departure,
from this earthly sphere on the 26th day of December, 1960.;t`'
thus terminating his long and effective service as Pastor
of the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Saint Paul; and
RESOLVED, further that this Council, in its own
behalf and that of the citizenry of the City of Saint Paul,
does hereby express a sense of great incalculable and
irreparable loss occasioned by the aforesaid-demise of
Monsignor Ryan, and does hereby authorize and direct that
the City Clerk cause two engrossed copies of this Resolution
to be prepared, and delivery of one of the same, to His ,
Excellency Archbishop William 0. Brady of the Archdiocese.,;
of the City of Saint Paul, and the delivery of the other af:�:
the same to the next of kin of said deceased, with.all con-
venient speed.
