The Sta -Vis Oil Company has received your notice
of ,May 19,.1961, concerning the advisability of proceeding
with Preliminary Order No. 198883, approved ,September 13, 1960.
As the owner of the former roundhouse property of
the Great Northern Railway near the proposed-Arch- ,Pennsylvania
Highway, the Sta -Vis Oil .Company objects to any taking of the
triangular piece of land which abutts Pennsylvania Avenue-located
,Southeast of the engine house itself, concerning which we have
been in negotiation and consultation with.your Mr. .George Shepard
.and Mr. Avery. N
The principal reasons for our objection are these:
1. It is only over this tract or piece of land that
Sta -Vis has access to the property Southeast of the engine house
because of the high grade of the street lines and its taking is
not necessary to the improvement.
-2. The cost to the city for the taking of the property
will be greatly disproportionate to the value of its use - Sta-
Vis has spent thousands of dollars in engineering plans and
machinery for the development of this property as a packaging
plant which will have to be entirely revised, and a great portion
of which will become worthless in the event the property is taken.
