AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE NO. 8822,
ENTITLED:
"AN ORDINANCE GOVERNING THE CONNECTION
OF SEWERS SERVING STATE -OWNED LAND BE-
LONGING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA
TO BE DEVELOPED FOR VETERANS'HOUSING
PURPOSES LOCATED OUTSIDE THE CITY OF
SAINT PAUL, WHICH SEWERS SHALL CONNECT
WITH THE SEWER SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF
SAINT PAUL. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ORDI-
NANCE RENDERED NECESSARY FOR THE PRESERVA-
TION OF THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH AND SAFETY"
APPROVED OCTOBER 22, 19469 AS AMENDED. THIS
IS AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE RENDERED NECESSARY
FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE PUBLIC PEACE,
HEALTH -AND SAFETY.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
I
Section 1. That Ordinance-"No. 8822, approved
October 22, 1946, as amended, be and the same is hereby
further amended by striking therefrom Paragraphs 4 and 8
of Section 1, and by substituting in lieu thereof the following:
"4. The permission hereby granted to the
*University of Minnesota shall be in effect in-
definitely from and after the date of passage of
this ordinance for the purpose of providing
sanitary sewer service „for veterans' temporary
housing, for permanent home sites for qualified
professors of the University of Minnesota and for
multiple dwelling apartment unit buildings located
in the aforedescribed tract of land; provided,
however, that the City of Saint Paul reserves
the right to terminate the permission herein
granted and to order said sanitary sewers,to be
disconnected from the Saint Paul sewer system upon
due notice by the City of Saint Paul of not less
than one year to the University of Minnesota.”
'18. The University of Minnesota shall pay
to the City of Saint Paul a sewer maintenance charge
of Twelve Dollars ($12.00) per year for each single
family house and each two - family unit; the sewer
maintenance charges for multiple dwelling apartment
units shall be paid by the University of Minnesota
to the City of Saint Paul in accordance with the
following schedule, the amount being governed by
the size of the water meter connection or meter to
the building, as set forth in said schedule;

Section 2., That Ordinance No. 8822, approved
October 22, 1946, as.famended, is hereby further amended by

with plans to be furnished to the Department of Public
Works of the City of Saint Paul and to be approved
by said department; the sanitary sewer system thus
abandoned shall be sealed off from the sewers that are
to remain in place by construction of an 811 thick
brick or masonry bulkhead, to be sealed watertight
in the abandoned line at the manhole ".
Section 3. This ordinance is hereby declared to
be an emergency ordinance rendered necessary for the preserva-
tion of the public peace, health and safety.
Section 4. This-:ordinance shall take effect and
be in force upon its passage, approval and publication.

These costs are in addition to any sewer rental char
which will be made in connection with V!2.1d:fig, ; by the Water
Department of the City of Saint Paul covering- Jaingle family
and two ,-family units= in accordance with the ordinances of
the City of Saint Paul.regulating the amounts of sewer rental
charges to outside communities.
Section 2. That Ordinance No. 8822; approved
October 22, 1946, as amended, is hereby further amended by
adding the following paragraph to Section 1 of said ordinances
"10. Permission and approval are hereby granted
to the University of Minnesota to abandon a portion
of their existing sFuanitary sewer system in accordance
with plans to be rnished to the Department of Public
Works of the City of Saint Paul and to be approved
by said department; the sanitary sewer ,system thus
abandoned shall be sealed off from the sewers that are
to remain in place by construction of an 8" thick
brick or masonry bulkhead, to be sealed watertight
in the abandoned line at the manhole "*
