Councilmen: DeCourcy _ Holland and Loss _ Mort i nson Peterson Rosen = Mr. President. Vavoulis d Q Honorable George Vavoulis Mayor, City of St. Paul Courthouse Saint Paul 2, Minnesota Dear Mr. Mayor: At a recent meeting of the Como Park Improvement Club, a motion was passed in protest to the proposed widening of Horton Avenue from West Como Boulevard to VanSlyke•Street,.and then on to Lexington Avenue North. This street (Horton) is the one that most of the children in our neighborhood cross when going eigher to Como Park in the summer or to Como Lake for skating in the winter. Widening this street can only lead to one thing - a race track for drivers between the slower pace they must follow in going around the Lake and the slower pace they must follow when driving through the Park. Eventually, the situation could lead to a serious accident which we all would be sorry for. Furthermore, by taking eight feet from the property of block #l, lot # 14, Warrendale Addition, the property owners' lot will be reduced to the point where the sidewalk along the "new" Horton Avenue will be immediately under the windows of the home on this lot. This is extremely unfair to the property owners - we are confident that no member of the group that designed this anew widening, or yourself, would like the idea of losing much of the privacy of your own home through a move such as the one in question. Therefore, the Como Park Improvement Club wishes the record to show that we protest this project. cc :Members of City Council City-Clerk Sincerely, ? 141 V A John W. Ivory,.
