;ESOLUTION is granted the use of the public side-
walks within Rice Street from Uni-
versity Avenue to Larpenteur Avenue
on July 29, 1961, between the hours
Of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., for the public
sale and display of merchandise at
various locations upon which.
RESOLVED, that North End Business Men's Club, Inc., in conjunction
with and for the purposes of its conduct of its annual public festival, hereby
is granted the use of the public sidewalks within Rice Street from University
Avenue to Larpenteur:Avenue on July 29, 1961, between the hours of 9 a. m.
and 6 p. m., for the public sale and display of merchandise at various
locations upon which various business establishments abut, under the supervision
and subject to the direction of the Commissioner of Public Safety and the Com-
missioner of Public Works, expressly subject to the following provisions, terms,
and conditions:
1. That at all times said permittee shall provide clear passage
space on all of the af6resaid public sidewalk areas adjacent to the curb
line, for safe pedestrian travel.
2. That said permittee shall, under the supervision of said
Commissioners, thoroughly clean and make complete restoration of said
public sidewalk areas immediately following said permitted use of the
same hereunder.
3. That said permittee shall fully protect, defend, and indem-
nify the City of Saint Paul, its officers, agents, servants, and employees
against all liability on account of injury to person or property occasioned
by or connected with the exercise -of- -this permit for the use thereunder
of any subject public sidewalk area.

That said permittee, by its written acceptance of this
resolution filed with,the City Clerk of said City prior to July 29, 1961,
shall become and be bound untg said City for the full and faithful per-
formance of all of the provisions, terms, and conditions of this resolution
thereby provided to be performed by it.
5. Said permittee, at its own cost and expense, shall procure
and maintain during the life of said permit, public liability casualty
insurance coverage indemnifying said.permittee and said City, and the
officers,_ agents, servants, .and employees of the latter, against any and
all liability on account of injury to person and /or property resultant

The City Council referred to you the attached letter of North End Business
Men's Club for permission to use sidewalk from Rice St. and University Ave.
to Rice St. and Larpenteur Ave. on July 29, 1961, between the hours of 9 A.M.
and 6 P.M., in connection with annual festival being held July 28th thru 30th,
1961. The matter was also referred to the Commissioner of Public Safety.

Larpenteur Avenue, on July 29, 1961, between the

SAINT PAUL. MINN,
The use of the sidewalk is in connection with
the annual festival sponsored by this organization,
which is being held July 28, July 29 and July 30,
1961.
The reason for this request is for the purpose
of having a street sidewalk sale to display merchan-
dise on the sidewalk in front of the various business
establishments. There will be adequate space on the
sidewalk for pedestrians to walk.
A representative of our organization would be
pleased to be present when this matter comes up be-
fore the council, if there is any further information
you desire.
