` In the matter of regrading and resurfacing with bituminous material, also
condemning and taking an egsment in the land necessary for the slopes, cuts
and fills, including right and removal of lateral support from subject land
or remainder there -of occasioned by excavations thereof or construction of
slopes, in regrading and surfacing the alley in Blk 7 Lane's Phalan Grove
Addition, the North and South alley from Ivy Avenue to Clear Avenue and the
East and West alley from Mendota St. to the North and South alley.
As the alley is now classified as an A-1 alley, graded, and is maintained as
such, we the undersigned, present this petition and strongly protest and
oppose the regrading and surfacing of same.
The previous petition to have this work done was obtained under false pretenses
and misrepresented to the property owners who signed it at that time. Some
of us sent letters then, requesting withdrawal of our names from said petition.
Therefore we, the undersigned, do declare ourselves vigorously opposed to
the resurfacing and grading of this alley.

Dear Sirs:
Due to the fact that we are unable to be present at this hearing, we
are taking the alternative'of making our wishes known by letter.
This is to state that we are very much opposed to the regrading and
surfacing of our alley. The condition of the alley does not warrant the need
of it.
When the petition was first brought to our attention, we were told it
was only for the purpose of gettin and estimate as to the cost of doing the
job. Had we been informed that it was a petition to have the alley graded,
we never would have signed.
Other signers will confirm our statement. Since we have andalley thatis
in good condition and graded and maintained as such, there is no reason
for having the work done again.
- Therefore, we declareM1ourselves strongly opposed to this project and
wish to have our vote cast as °NO°.

Much to our regret, we are unable to attend this hearing because of
pre- arranged vacation plans. However, Mrs Gilstad will represent us in
our behalf thru this letter, stating our opinion in this matter.
Being a grade "All alley and maintained as such, we are strongly opposed
to the resurfacing and regrading of said alley.
We were led to believe that the petition first circulated and signed
was only to acquire an estimate of the cost and not to have the alley re-
surfaced and regraded. If we had been informed of the true nature of this

first petition there would be no need of writing this letter at this time.
Therefore, we vote "NO" on the resurfacing and regrading of aforementioned
alley.
