M Adopted by the Council June 29, 1981. f Approved June 29, 1961. ` (July 1, 1981) WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Pants and Recreation and Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency during the period from June 16 to 30, 1961, which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work; Supervision, operation, maintenance, awe and protection of public parks and play.. grounds and of their facilities. And WHERMS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: Seasonal requirements for protection of public property and pursuit of depart- mental activities, pgch as: Civic events and municipal sports and playground pro- grams required increased time and effort of an unforeseen but temporary nature; regular employees ill; breakdown of equip. ment required immediate repair; storm damage to boulevard trees caused dangerous situations; and heavy patronage at parks refectories, particularly on week -ends. THHEREFCRE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are hereby authorized to pay the employees who per- formed such work in accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
