Initiating Problem, Issues, Opportunity (Who, What, When, Where, Why): As required in the Legislative Code, sanitary sewer rates must be set annually. Proposed sanitary sewer rates will increase by 10% and the Storm Sewer System Charge will also increase by 10% for 2009. The sanitary raYe increase is necessary because MCES rates for 2009 aze increasing. Both rates aze increasing because costs aze increasing due to mandates and inflation, and the Utility needs to reduce its dependence on reserves. Advantages If Approved: The current rates will provide adequate revenue to operate and maintain the City's sewer system. Approving the resolution will also sarisfy the City's legal requirement to set sanitary sewer rates annually. Disadvantages If Approved: None Disadvantages If Not Approved: — We will not be in compliance with requirements of the Legislative Code to set sanitary sewer rates annually. v Total Amount of \ oC T'ransaction: CosVRevenue Budgeted: Q C 2Q00 0 Funding Source: Activiry Number: +' APq Financial Infortnation: ° ° ° 9 e RN (Explain) 136 137 138 139 140 141 142 143 144 145 146 147 148 149 150 151 152 153 154 155 Class A Cemetens, golf courses, pazks, unimproved vacant land and one ano family residential land in excess of 1/3` acre B Railroad right of way , C One and two family residential properties less than 1/3` acre D Condominiums and town houses E Public and private schools.and commiuity centers F Multiple dwellings, churches, synagogues andovernmental Buildings G Commercial and industrial properties 8-u5J 2009 Rate Unit $116.98 Acre l' $443.74 Acre $69.94 Parcel $47.05 Unit $642.12 Acre $857.00 Acre $1,154.53 Acre Be it FALLY RESOLVED, that these rates reflect a ten percent increase over the 2008 Storm Sewer Sysfem Charge rates. l Adoption Certified by Council Secretary By: Approved by Mayor.
