WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Public Works has reported, in accordance
with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of an emergency
during the period from February 16 to February 28, 1961 which
rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the
Department of Public Works for more than eight hours per day or
forty hours per week in doing the following work:
Emergency street, building, sewer & bridge repair
Dispatching men for emergency repair work -�

Operating equipment on emergency repair work are hereby authorized to pay cert ain J
employes in the Department of Public I
Emergency x calls for sewer maintenance works for extra employment as de-
scribed in the resolution.
Removing snow from city streets & sanding icy streets Adopted by the Council Mazch1,1961.
Removing debris from city streets Approved March 1, 1981.
Tending fire at Asphalt Plant on Sundays & holidays = (March 4, 1961)

Taking care of complaints at city yards
Drawing plans & specifications for grading & paving jobs
Mimeographing grade profiles & revising house numbers
Servicing municipal equipment
Making up sidewalk assessments
Inspecting city improvement jobs
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts and
circumstances:
Necessity of answering all emergency repair calls, keeping city
streets free from snow, ice, & debris, keeping fires at Asphalt
Plant continuously, taking complaints at City Yards, completing
plans & specifications for grading & paving jobs, need for grade
profiles and housenumbers, completing sidewalk assessments, keeping
city equipment in good running condition, and inspecting work done
ny contractors on street & sidewalk work.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are hereby
authorized to pay the employees that performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance,
Ordinance No. 6446.
