1 WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is committed to maintain a diverse workplace that reflects the
2 diversity of our community; and
4 WHEREAS, the Mu1tiC�ltural Development Center (MCDC) is a non-profit organization in
5 e�stence since 1991, established as a resource for business, govemment, and educational institutions to
6 help foster understanding ofdiversity issues in the workforce related to cultural differences,
7 communication misperceptions, and the lack of understanding of various cultures; and

WHEREAS, the City would like to partner with the MCDC and commit $2,000.00 0£ City funds,
which is a Bronze Level sponsorship, to assist in the printing and distribution of a 2009 Chronology of
World G�ltural Events poster; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul log will appeaz on the bottom of this poster along with other
contzibutors recognizing our participation; and
WHEREAS, in return for this public expenditure the City gets namelbrand recognition, 500
poster/desk copies distributed locally and internationally, guaranteed access to www.sharing,diversitv.com
and logo recognition at the website www.mcdc.ore; and
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council approves the expenditure of
$2,000.00 and the use ofthe City logo forthis limited purpose; and be it

for a public purpose. Specifically, HR is requesting to renew the City's sponsorship of
the Multicultural Development Center for a cost of $2,000. The expenses have been
