PAUL ••••• •'7('Nb 21f.1: 151- 151 -157 1715 CITY HALL AND COURT HOUSE SAINT PAUL 1, MINNISOTA February 8, 1961 Mrs. Agnes H. O'Connell City Clerk Building Dear Madam: This is in the matter of the application of Midway Hospital for a special use permit to install a 120 car staff and visitor parking lot on property located on the east side of Aldine and the west side of Pierce-Street between St.Anthony and University Avenues.' The property is described as Lots 16 tbru 27, Midway Hospital Addition. The zoning is "C" residence and has been since the adoption of the ordinance in 1922. The property is presently vacant and the applicant proposes to develop it for off-street parking in conjunction with the proposed addition to Mid- way Hospital. The parking lot will have a frontage of approximately 180 feet along both Aldine and Pierce Streets, and extend 270 feet between the two streets, resulting in an area of approximately 48,600 square feet. East and across Pierce Street are several apartment buildings; north and south adjoining is the applicant's property; west and across Aldine Street are single - family residences. The Traffic Engineer has approved the plan which meets the standards for this type of facility. Field investigation discloses no objection as there will be a definite need for additional off-street parking when the new addition to the Midway Hospital is completed. In consideration of the above factors, the Board of Zoning recommends the granting of the permit for a 120 car parking lot on the above described property in accordance with plans approved January 19, 1961.
