obscene books and materials and providing penalties
for the violation thereof. This is an emergency
ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation
of the public peace, health and safety.
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAINT PAUL DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. Any person who shall knowingly exhibit, sell
or offer to sell any obscene, lewd, lascivious or filthy book,
pamphlet, picture, motion picture, film, paper, letter, writing,
print or other matter of indecent character shall be guilty 'of a
misdemeanor.
Sec. 2. Any person violating any or all of the provisions
of Section 1 of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof,
be punished by a find,, not exceeding One Hundred Dollars ($100)
or by imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days.
Sec. 3. This ordinance shall be deemed a part of the
Saint Paul Legislative Code and shall be incorporated therein
and given an appropriate chapter number and /or section number at
the time of the next revision of the said Legislative Code.
Sec. 4+. This ordinance is hereby declared to be an
emergency ordinance rendered necessary for the preservation of
the public peace, health and safety.
