WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Parks and Recreatio�Pab
Buil dings has reported, in accordance
y the City Charter, the existence of an eiu8rgentcy during
the period from April 16 to 30, 1962, which rendered
necessary the employment of certain employees of the
Department of Parks and Recreation and Public Buildings '
for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week
in doing the following work;
Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and
protection of public parks and playgrounds and
of their facilities.
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following
facts and circumstances.=
Seasonal requirements for protection of Public
property and pursuit of departmental activities,
such as; Civic events and municipal sports and
playground programs required increased time
and effort of an unforeseen but temporary nature;
i Spring cleanup., delayed by weather, needed re-
doubled effort; during the heating season, the
plant for the Zoo and Greenhouse must be tended
constantly; and housemover operating on Sunday
had to have a tree trimmer with him.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers
are hereby authorized to pay the employees who per-
formed such work in accordance with the provisions
of the Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6146.
