RESOLVED, By the Council of the City of Saint `?
Paul, that, in behalf of said City and its ditizeriry hereby
official cognizance is taken and recorded thereof and this
Resolution shall be deemed to have been entered in the
official proceedings of said Council in commemoration of the
extensive and consistently meritorius career of public
service pursued sedulously and most effectively in the fur-
therance of the common weal by the Honorable John J. McDonough,
former Mayor of the City of Saint Paul and member of the
Minnesota Par, which•culmin.ated on the 27th day of February,
1962, upon his death in his sixty - seventh year at said City;
and
RESOLVED FURTHER, That, among other things,
official notice is taken, of his extensive and justly pos-
sessed reputation-for great erudition and extraordinarily
high aptitude and zeal which ever characterized his service
to the public both as Mayor and lawyer and which resulted
in considerable contributions in the furtherance of the
public interest and the cause of justice; and that it is
deemed that he has merited,and this Council does hereby
confer upon him,the said Honorable John J. McDonough, post-,
humously, the "Citation for Extracl dinary Merit in the
Affairs of the Government and Law ", and it does hereby
extend an expression of sympathy and condolence because of
his death, to his surviving spouse and children; and
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the City Clerk hereby is
authorized and directed to cause an engrossed certified
copy of ifis Resolution to be prepared and delivered to the
surviving spouse of said,Decedent with all convenient speed.
