WHEREAS, the United States Internal Revenue Service is
presently considering the construction and lode:tion of a
Regional Service Center for this area of the:L._66untry, and
the City of Saint Paul is one of the cities under consideration
for the locating of said Center; and
WHEREAS, the construction of such Regional Service Center
in the City of Saint Paul would involve the employment of
numerous workers in this City and the area as well as stimulate
the sale of various materials and supplies to be used in connection
with such construction, and it would benefit the general economy
of Saint Paul and the surrounding area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul, by virtue of its favorable
physical location and its readily available and skilled labor
market,is ideally suited as the location for such a Regional
Service Center; and
WHEREAS, said Regional Service Center will employ upwards
of 1,800 persons who will contribute much to the economy of the
City of Saint Paul and the surrounding area by virtue of their
employment at said Center; and
WHEREAS, the City of Saint Paul is presently moving forward
as a progressive community economically, socially and culturally,
and thus has much to recommend it as a location fbr such a
Regional Service Center;
i RESOLVED, That based upon the aforesaid favorable premises
and the good and sound reasons stated aforesaid, the proper
officials at the Omaha Regional Office of the Internal Revenue
Service be and hereby are urged to select the City of Saint -Paul
as the location for such a Regional Service Center;
