1 WHEREAS, Ames Park was renamed Sackett Park in honor of James T. Sackett who lost his life in the line of duty
2 as a Saint Paul Police ofFicer; and,

WHEREAS, currently there is no sign in the park that gives recognition to the fact that the park is named Sackett
Park; and,
WfIEREAS, the only sign at the entrance of the park is for the Boys and Girls Club in the former Sackett Recreation
Center; and,
WHEREAS, an installation of a Sackett Park sign would give the park an identity and further recognized James T.
Sackett for his sacrifice in Yhe line of duty with the Saint Paul Police force: now,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Saint Paul Division of Parks and Recreation and the proper city
officials are hereby authorized to accept the required funds and install a sign commemorating James T. Sackett Park.
