WHEREAS, The Commissioner of Finance has reported, in ac-
cordance with Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of
an emergency during the period from .August 16 to Augustl3l, 1962,
which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of
the Department of Finance for more than eight hours perfday or
forty hours per week in doing the following work: spreading assess-
ments, checking assessment spreads, preparing auditorts! report, and
bringing transfer book records up to date; and
WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the following facts
and circumstances: two vacancies in Bureau of Rece ipts , and Dis-
bursements and a shortage of experienced Assessment Clerks;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED That the proper city officers are
hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such work in
accordance with the provisions of the Council's salary ordinance,
Ordinance No. 6446. 1
