WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has
reported in accordance with Section 53 of the City'Chartear
the exidence of an emergency during the period from
August 16th to August 31st, 1962 inclusive, which rendered
necessary the employment of certain employees of the Water
Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours
per week in doing the following work:
1) Handling meter reading cards, etc.
2) Supervising main break repairs. _ '
3) Inspecting new mains installed by contractor.
AND WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason'of the
following facts and circumstances:
1) In order to have readings ready for billers on'Monday.
2) Necessary to make repairs on Sunday. '
3) Necessary to do inspecting after days work by,contractor.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the proper city officers
are hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed such
work in accordance with the provisions of the Council's Salary
Ordinance, Ordinance No. 6446.
