Resolved, That the proper City offi-
cers are hereby authorized to pay
certain employes in the Department
of Parks & Recreation & Public Build-
ings for extra employment as described
in the resolution.

11HEREAS, The Commissioner of parks and Recreation and
Public Buildings has reported, in accordance with
Section 53 of the City Charter, the existence of
an emergency during the period from November 16 to
30, 1962, which rendered necessary the employment
of certain employees of the Department of parks and
Recreation and Public Buildings for more than eight
-hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the
following work;
Supervision, operation, maintenance, care and
protection of public parks and playgrounds
and equipment repair at Municipal Asphalt
Plant and photography for Bureau of Build-
ings.
And WHEREAS, This emergency arose by reason of the follow-
ing facts and circumstances:
Seasonal requ.irementsr, for protection of public
,property and pursuit of departmental activities,
such as; Civic events and municipal sports and
playground programs required increased time and
effort of an unforeseen but temporary nature;
breakdown of equipment necessitated immediate
repairs; during the heating season, the plant
for the Zoo and Greenhouse must be tended constantly;
snow storm on the week -end; and photographs required
in condemnation proceedings.
THEREFORE,, BE IT RESOLVED, That the proper city officers are
hereby authorized to pay the employees who performed
such work in accordance with the provisions of the
Council's salary ordinance, Ordinance No. 6146.
