WHEREAS, The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDO� is solicitin� projects to be funded under the Municipal
Cooperative A�eement Pro�am; and
WHEREAS, this solicitation will award about $4 million of S�te funding for municipal requested projects, on Trunk Hi�hways
and that meet basic categories of Preservarion, Mana�ement, Improvement, Expansion or Site Development; and
WHEREAS, to be eligible for these fund the project must be submitted to MnDOT on or before September 14, 2007 and the
submitting agency must be able to deliver a State approved project for State Fiscal Year 2009 (starting July 1, 2008); and
WHEREAS, pro}ects approved for the Municipal Cooperative A�eement Pro�am funding will require the submitting agency to
provide a local match; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has reviewed the qualifying and ranking criteria and determined that three (3)
projects meet the criteria and have the best chance to receive funding. The projects aze; (1) Snelling Avenue, between St. Clair
Avenue and Grand Avenue, Center Median Management project, (2) the consuuction of a traffic signal on Shepard Road at the
intersection of Interstate 35E southbound (entrance) ramp ,(3) the reconstruction of the existing traffic signal at the intexsection
of East Seventh Street, Minnehatta Avenue and Mendota Street.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council approves the three (3) projects, Snelling Avenue, between St. Clair
Avenue and Grand Avenue, Center Median Management project, the of a traffic signal on Shepazd Road at the
intersection of Interstate 35E southbound (enh�ance) ramp, and the reconshuction of ffie existing traf6c signal at the intersection
of East Seventh Street, Minnehaha Avenue and Mendota Street to be submitted to MnDOT for review and possible funding.

Initiating Problem, Issues, Opportunity (Who, What, When, Where, Why):
