Council File No. 210006 —By Milton Rosen, by request — Resolved, That the proper City offi- cers are hereby authorized to pay certain mployes in the Department of Water for extra employment as described in the resolution. 'Adopted by the Council November i6, 1962. Approved Novemebr 16, 1962. (November 24, 1962. WHEREAS, the Commissioner of Public Utilities has reported in accordance with Section 53 of the City Charter the existence of an emergency during the period from November 1st to November 15th, 1962 inclusive which rendered necessary the employment of certain employees of the Water Department for more than eight hours per day or forty hours per week in doing the following work: 1) Repairing equipment, various stations. 2) Working extra shifts, various stations. 3) Inspecting new main installed by contractor. 4) Driving country crew to and from work. 5) Changing 31' compound meter at Minnesota Plastic Co. 6) Relocating large water main at Charles and Vandalia. AND WHEREAS, this emergency arose by reason of the following facts and circumstances: 1) Necessary to do work during low consumption hours. ,j2) Absence of employees on regular shifts. 3) Necessary to do inspecting after day's work by contractor. 4) On account of scattered work locations. 5) Water could not be turned off during week as company works 3 shifts. (6) Traffic conditions would not allow work to be done during regular hours.
