A public hearing having been, had upon the above improvement upon due notice, and the Council
having heard all persons, objections and recommendations relative thereto, and having fully considered
the same; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, By the Council of the City of St. Paul that the precise nature, extent and kind of im-
provement to be made by the said City is. to-reconstruct the sidewalk on the south side of
Minnehaha Ave. from Dale St. to Como Ave. and for the north side from Arundel St. to
Como Ave. and construct new sidewalk on the north side of Minnehaha Ave.. -from Dale St.
east to Arundel St., except where good and sufficient sidewalks now exist
and the Council hereby orders said improvement to be made.
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Commissioner of Public Works be and is hereby instructed and
directed to prepare plans and specifications for said improvement, and submit same to the Council for
approval; that upon said approval, the proper city officials are hereby authorized and directed to pro-
ceed with the making of said improvement in accordance therewith.

To the Commissioner of Finance of the City of Saint Paul:
The Commissioner of Public Works., having had under consideration the pre-
liminary order of the Council., known as Council File No, 205087
approved Dec. 8th,
�9 61 relative to reconstructing the side-
walk on the south side of Minnehaha Ave. from Dale St. to Como Ave. and
for the north side from Arundel St, to Como Ave. and to construct new
sidewalk on the north side of Minnehaha Ave. from Dale St. east to
Arundel St.
and having investigated the matters and things referred to therein, hereby reports:
1. The estimated cost thereof is $0.52 per sq. ft, for mono. cone. walk
4'" thick. Extra work(excay., fill, cone. rem'd, root cutting, drive
crossings,etc,)at extra cost.
2. A plan, profile or sketch of said improvement is hereto attached and made
a part hereof,
3. Initiated by the Commissioner of Public Works

Notice is hereby given that the Great Northern Railway Company,
owner of property located in S4-41 Section 25 -29 -23 in Saint Paul,
Ramsey County, Minnesota, liable to be specially assessed for new
sidewalk construction fronting on the north side of Minnehaha Avenue
between Dale and Arundel Streets, does hereby protest the proposed
sidewalk construction for the reasons, among others, that
1.) the cost is prohibitive and out of proportion to so- called
benefits that may accrue to the Great Northern Railway Company
property, and
2.) the railway company does not require the sidewalk in connection
with the use of its property; the placing of sidewalk fronting
a portion of the property which is held under lease will not
'benefit the leased property.
Protest is filed in accordance with letter dated January 5, 1962
received from the Department of Finance of the City of Saint Paul,
and it is requested that the protest be considered at the 10:00 a.m.
meeting of the City Council on January 23, 1962.
