07-792Council File # I�� I a Green Sheet # 3043310 RESOLUTION OF �AINT PAUL, MINNESOTA Presented by �� 1 WHEREAS, the City has agreed to pay the travel expenses of the finalists in the selection process 2 for Fire Chie£ The Department ofFire and Safety Services has agreed to reimbursement oftravel 3 expenses to finalists not to exceed a total of $1,000 per person for the Fire Chief Selection Committee 4 interviews and $1,000 per person for the Mayoral interviews; and 5 6 WHEREAS, the public purpose ofreimbursing the travel and overnight expenses ofthe top 7 candidates is to ensure the City of Saint Paul is able to hire the best candidate for the Fire Chiefposition. 8 Being able to interview the top candidates in person is essential for the Fire Chief Selection Committee 9 members and the Mayor to choose the best person to meets the needs of the City of Saint Paul; and 10 11 WHEREAS, the City will reunburse for the actual costs of transportation (either airfare or mileage 12 incurred ofover 100 miles one-way at the IRS mileage reimbursement raYe), lodging not to exceed $113 13 per night plus fees and taxes before October 1� and $121 per night plus fees and talces on or after October 14 1, 2007, and taz�i to and from the airport, in accordance with the U.S. General Services Administration 15 (GSA) per diem rate for lodging, and incidental expenses for the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area; and 16 17 WHEREAS, the total expenditures for each candidate will not exceed $1,000 per person per 18 interview or a total of $2,000 total for both interviews; and 19 20 RESOLVED, the City of Saint Paul will reimburse each candidate up to a total of $1,000 per 21 person for the Fire Chief Selection Committee interviews and up to a total of $1,000 per person for the 22 Mayoral interviews for actual travel expenses incurred not to exceed the GSA per diem rate while traveling 23 to Saint PauL The proper city officials aze authorized to approve payment from the account code PS-001- �5 05001-0259-50600 ofthe Department ofFire and Safety Services; and 26 NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council approves the rennbursement of up 7�� to a total of $15,000; and 29 FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Council finds that this expenditure is for the public purpose.
